An Orbis Learner Community can be housed in a variety of locations that are designed to support
student learning, including retrofitted schools, office space, or other facilities strategically positioned to
accommodate learners. Nonetheless, it is anticipated that often OLCs will often be positioned near
specialized training facilities or academies to provide a
high-quality academic program for learners who are
                                                           involved in specialized non-academic training.

The Orbis Learner Community is designed to
accommodate learners with various levels of academic
ability, in a differentiated learning environment. Given
                                                           that time-management and creating appropriate

structures for success are essential, the goal for each
learner is to achieve mastery of each subject area in which they enroll. Learners will be coached to
progress through their course work at a pace optimal for learning rather than within a time constrained
pace. The OLC premise is for each learner to engage in learning where time is the variable and mastery
is the constant, rather than the traditional school model where time is the constant and mastery is the
variable. A model that empowers the learner to achieve without traditional school time constraints.

The Orbis Learner Community is also especially designed to prioritize the skills and dispositions
development within each learner. The OLC model recognizes that not only must learners master
appropriate academic materials, they also must master the skills and dispositions necessary to ensure
optimum personal development. Learner Skills are defined as “the capacities and strategies that enable
learners to apply knowledge to novel situations, engage in higher order thinking, problem solve,
collaborate, communicate effectively, and plan for
the future.” Learner Dispositions are defined as “the

behaviors and ways of being that contribute to
               learners fulfilling their full potential.”

The Orbis Learner Community will maintain the most
highly effective learning technology, the foundation
of which will be high-speed internet connectivity,
learning platforms, hardware, and software necessary
to conduct extensive web-based research, take part
in video conferencing, and complete all coursework in a timely manner. To ensure that digital learning
resources and platforms are current and relevant, they will be regularly reviewed for currency and
               upgraded, as necessary.

The Orbis Learner Community process will provide opportunity for community engagement to ensure
that all aspects of learner development are accomplished, from socialization to digital citizenship. In
addition to creating an optimal learning environment for learners, the OLC will provide learners the
support services that virtual schools are unable to deliver. A highly trained Wellness Coach will assist
