Process

               Each learner in the Orbis Learner Community will be
               enrolled in a fully accredited virtual academic

               program of study of at least six academic credits per
               year. While the learners will receive transcripts and
               be graduated from a fully accredited virtual academic
               program, the unique purpose of OLC is to create
               communities of learners who are supported with the
               necessary coaching, guidance, and socialization to
               optimize their learning experience. A learning community where each learner has a personalized
               learning plan that can accommodate special schedules and learning needs of the individual learners
               when necessary.

                                                           The Orbis Learner Community embraces the reality that
                                                           learning takes place in many ways and in many places
                                                           and is not confined to the walls of a classroom.
                                                           Therefore, the OLC is not an attempt to improve the

                                                           traditional school model but rather represents a
                                                           transformative change in education providing a
                                                           personalized learner support system with high quality
                                                           academic curriculum.

               The physical space of the Orbis Learner Community will provide a comfortable, stimulating, and inspiring
               learning environment designed to allow learners to achieve their fullest potential as a learner. The
               design of the center will incorporate the latest research-based understanding of how learning is affected
               by the physical environment. Consideration will be given to details such as color schemes, learning
               space, sightlines, lighting, aesthetics, etc. The OLC will also provide adequate space for learner
               collaboration, video conferencing, coach/learner interaction, and appropriate quiet or isolation space.

               The purpose of the design is to provide an
               environment in which learners successfully
               engage their academic program while
               developing collaborative and social skills with

               other learners. Likewise, it is a design in which
               Learning Coaches can effectively monitor
               individual learner progress and provide
               guidance and inspiration to motivate each learner toward success. An effective design of the learner
               space will serve as a catalyst for learning.
