WISDOM AND SOUND ADVICE FROM THE TORAH
Wisdom is found on the lips of the dis cern ing, but a rod is
for the back of him who lacks judg ment. (Proverbs, 10:13)
A fool finds pleas ure in evil con duct, but a man of un der -
stand ing de lights in wis dom. (Proverbs, 10:23)
Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the
wise brings heal ing. (Proverbs, 12:18)
A wise son heeds his fa ther's in struc tion, but a mock er does
not lis ten to re buke. (Proverbs, 13:1)
Pride on ly breeds quar rels, but wis dom is found in those
who take ad vice. (Proverbs, 13:10)
A pa tient man has great un der stand ing, but a quick-tem -
pered man dis plays fol ly. (Proverbs, 14:29)
Like ty ing a stone in a sling is the giv ing of hon or to a fool.
(Proverbs, 26:8)
The teach ing of the wise is a foun tain of life, turn ing a man
from the snares of death. Good un der stand ing wins fa vor, but
the way of the un faith ful is hard. Every pru dent man acts out
of knowl edge, but a fool ex pos es his fol ly. (Proverbs, 13:14-16)
The fear of the Lord is the be gin ning of knowl edge, but fools
de spise wis dom and dis ci pline. (Proverbs, 1:7)
"And now let Pharaoh look for a dis cern ing and wise man
and put him in charge of the land of Egypt"... Then Pharaoh
said to Joseph, "Since God has made all this known to you,
there is no one so dis cern ing and wise as you. You shall be
