WISDOM AND SOUND ADVICE FROM THE TORAH






                     Words from a wise man's mouth are gra cious, but a fool is
                     con sumed by his own lips. (Ecclesiastes, 10:12)

                     When a coun try is re bel lious, it has many rul ers, but a man of
                     un der stand ing and knowl edge main tains or der. (Proverbs,
                     28:2)

                     He who trusts in him self is a fool, but he who walks in wis -
                     dom is kept safe. (Proverbs, 28:26)

                     A man of knowl edge us es words with re straint, and a man
                     of un der stand ing is even-tem pered. Even a fool is thought
                     wise if he keeps si lent, and dis cern ing if he holds his tongue.
                     (Proverbs, 17:27-28)


                     The words of a man's mouth are deep wa ters, but the foun -
                     tain of wis dom is a bub bling brook. (Proverbs, 18:4)

                     The heart of the dis cern ing ac quires knowl edge; the ears of
                     the wise seek it out. (Proverbs, 18:15)

                     He who lis tens to a life-giv ing re buke will be at home
                     among the wise. (Proverbs, 15:31)

                     King Solomon was great er in rich es and wis dom than all the
                     oth er kings of the earth. (1 Kings, 10:23)


                     The law of the Lord is per fect, re viv ing the soul. The stat utes
                     of the Lord are trust wor thy, mak ing wise the sim ple.
                     (Psalms, 19:7)

                     The mouth of the right eous man ut ters wis dom, and his
                     tongue speaks what is just. (Psalms, 37:30)

                     And He [God] would dis close to you the se crets of wis dom,
                     for true wis dom has two sides. (Job, 11:6)
