WISDOM AND SOUND ADVICE FROM THE TORAH






                 in to His con fi dence. The Lord's curse is on the house of the wick -
                 ed but He bless es the home of the right eous. God mocks them but
                 gives grace to the hum ble. The wise in her it hon or, but fools He
                 holds up to shame. (Proverbs, 3:13-35)


                 ... Pay at ten tion and gain un der stand ing. I give you sound learn-
                 ing, so do not for sake my teach ing... "Lay hold of my words with
                 all your heart... Get wis dom, get un der stand ing; do not for get my
                 words or swerve from them. Do not for sake wis dom, and she will
                 pro tect you [by God’s will]; love her, and she will watch over you
                 [by God’s will]. The first sign of wis dom is to get wis dom; go give
                 all you have to get true knowl edge. Esteem her, and she will ex -
                 alt you; em brace her, and she will hon or you. She will set a gar -
                 land of grace on your head and present you with a crown of

                 splen dor." Listen, my son, ac cept what I say, and the years of
                 your life will be many. I guide you in the way of wis dom and
                 lead you along straight paths. When you walk, your steps will
                 not be ham pered; when you run, you will not stum ble. Hold on
                 to in struc tion, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life. Do
                 not set foot on the path of the wick ed or walk in the way of evil
                 men. Avoid it, do not trav el on it; turn from it and go on your

                 way. For they sleep not ex cept they have done mis chief, and their
                 sleep is tak en away un less they have caused some to fall.. They
                 eat the bread of wick ed ness and drink the wine of vi o lence. The
                 path of the right eous is like the first gleam of dawn, shin ing ev -
                 er bright er till the full light of day. But the way of the wick ed
                 is like deep dark ness; they do not know what makes them
                 stum ble. My son, pay at ten tion to what I say; lis ten close ly to My
                 words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them with in your
                 heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to a
