The Vitality Women’s FA Cup
Stourbridge caused a large upset in the First Round of the Vitality
Women's FA Cup as they won 3-2 away to FAWNL Northern Premier
Division high fliers Derby County, from two levels above.
Derby took an early lead when Emily Joyce scored direct
from a corner but Stourbridge equalised just before the half hour,
with a strike from the edge of the area by Millie Rogers, and Alex Nicklin then put them in front
five minutes ahead of the break. Derby pressed forward during the second half and their
pressure brought reward when Precious Hamilton levelled matters with sixteen minutes
remaining but with extra time looming, the West Midlands League struck a huge blow when
Courteney Murphy seized on a mishit clearance and lobbed home the winning goal from 40
yards to secure a memorable victory for her side.
The Glassgirls will be away again in the next round, to Cambridge City who
themselves produced a good result to progress, a Grace Stanley double giving them a 2-0 victory
at London Seaward.
Exeter City kept up their superb record in cups this season and their 3-1 win against
Cardiff City Ladies means they have beaten three Southern Premier Division teams in
different competitions. Connie Pengelly was the heroine for Exeter as she scored a hat-trick,
whilst Cardiff's reply came from Amber Roberts. Exeter will be away in the next round, to
Eastleigh who themselves had a good win, 6-0 away to AFC Stoneham. Lucy Nightingale led
the scoring for Eastleigh with a hat-trick, Kathryn Littleboy added two and Manuela Naprta

Hounslow Women who also won on a penalty shootout against Worthing FC Women after
the game had finished level at 1-1.
Netherton Utd are the other County League side still left in the competition,
following their 3-2 victory against Knowle. Yasmin Green, Ellie Hannan and Naomi Dauncey
were all on target for the S-Tech Cambridgeshire League side whose reward is a trip to FAWNL
Division One Midlands outfit Long Eaton Utd. Jordan Atkin, Tiana Hicks, Audrey Huskisson-
Moore and Moriah McIntosh as Long Eaton ran out 4-0 winners against Peterborough Utd.
Chorley claimed the scalp of an opponent from a higher level, beating
Middlesbrough on a penalty shootout after the game had finished level at 4-4. Aleesha Collins
had a great day for Chorley, scoring all four goals during open play whilst Faye Dale hit a
hat-trick in reply for 'Boro, with Eve Marshall adding the other. Chorley will be at home to
Bradford City, 2-1 winners away to Cheadle Town Stingers thanks to Maisie Norde and

Alnwick Town 4-0. Safron Newhouse and Ellen Thornton gave Salford a two-goal lead at half

have drawn a plum Second Round tie against Newcastle Utd who ran out 5-1 winners over
Harrogate Town, Katie Barker bagging a hat-trick along with Kacie Elson and Georgia
Gibson.
