A 1-0 victory away to Partick Thistle has preserved Rangers’ two point lead at the top of
SWPL 1. Chelsea Cornet scored the only goal of the game with a powerful 20-yard strike after
ten minutes, to give her side a ninth win in ten matches.
Second placed Glasgow City meanwhile produced a second half goal blitz as they won
5-1 at Motherwell to stay two points off the pace. The first half was goalless but nine minutes
after the break, Priscilla Chinchilla kept up her recent good form by giving City the lead. Ode
Fulutidilu then scored twice in a three minute spell, with Aoife Colvill and Jenna Clark adding
further goals before Katie Rice netted a late consolation for the home side.
Celtic produced a late show as they defeated Aberdeen 3-1 to keep themselves in the
title race. Bayley Hutchison put Aberdeen in front five minutes before half time and they held
on to their advantage until eleven minutes from time, when Clarissa Larisey brought Celtic back
on level terms. Larisey then scored a second to give Celtic the lead for the first time and
Cheyenne Shorts completed the late fightback with the final goal.
Fourth placed Hibernian meanwhile battled out a goalless draw in their local derby
match with Spartans. The result means that Spartans have shared the points for the sixth time
in ten matches whilst, in contrast, Hibs drew for the first time.
Hearts won for the second time in as many matches, 1-0 away to Hamilton
Academical, and have climbed up to sixth as a result. Lia Tweedie scored the goal to give her
side three valuable points, eight minutes from time.
Dundee Utd have gone two points clear at the top of SWPL 2 after recording a second
successive 5-1 victory, this time against Stirling University. Jade McLaren and Rebecca
Foote gave United a two-goal lead going into the interval, with McLaren then netting her
second just after the hour mark. Robyn Smith made it four ten minutes later, before McLaren
completed her hat-trick shortly afterwards. Rebecca Robertson then netted a consolation for
Stirling with nine minutes remaining.
Glasgow Women had started the day level on points with Dundee Utd but were held
to a 2-2 draw by third placed Kilmarnock. Nyla Murphy opened the scoring for Glasgow after
