SEPARATION FROM EMPLOYMENT
RESIGNATIONS
An employee who resigns from the staff (non-supervisory status) is requested to provide at least two
(2) week’s written notice (equal to two work weeks) of intended resignation. Employees in
supervisory roles, such as Executive Vice Presidents/COO, Chief Executive Officers, Vice Presidents,
and Assistant Vice Presidents are requested to give at least a 30 days’ written notice (equal to four
work weeks) of intended resignation.
When an employee resigns, and gives adequate notice, he or she must continue to perform all duties
and responsibilities as outlined in his or her position description until the date of separation. Upon
satisfying both the notice and service requirements hereof, the employee will receive payment for the
full amount of accrued, unused vacation in accordance with policy.
Failure to provide and work the proper notice of resignation may be cause for immediate employment
termination with no future payment. Employees may be required to produce a doctor’s note for any
sick leave hours taken after notice of voluntary resignation is given.
EMPLOYMENT TERMINATION
Employment with Police FCU is “at will.” Employment termination may occur at any time with or
without prior notice and without liability for doing so. When the work of an employee is
unsatisfactory, he or she may be given notice of the problems and a reasonable opportunity for
improvement. The period of improvement shall be determined by the Supervisor, appropriate Chief
Executive, and/or President/CEO. If performance improves, the employee must maintain performance
at the improved, acceptable level or employment termination may occur.
Employment terminations for misconduct are discussed in this Manual under “Progressive Discipline.”
Police FCU makes no guarantee of severance packages for reduction in force and/or any type of
involuntary employment termination. Additionally, any benefits provided through Police FCU will
cease upon employment termination in accordance with the benefit plan provisions. If applicable,
continuation of medical benefit options will be made available as outlined under the Consolidated
Omnibus Reconciliation Act (COBRA).
