Friday February 11 2.30pm The Mowlem. Society AGM followed by
a presentation by archaeologist Lilian Ladle, FSA, MBE
“Delivering the Goods- the development of early trade in South East
Dorset. A fellow of Bournemouth University, Lilian has spent many years
excavating local sites and researching elements of the areas
archaeological past. The talk concentrates on prehistoric trade primarily
via coastal routes and the role of Poole harbor and rivers from the
Bronze Age up to the roman period.

Friday March 11 2.30pm The Mowlem Talk by Carlotta Barrow on
“My Life in Dance” Local resident, artist and sculptor Carlotta Barrow
spent many years as a performer appearing regularly on TV, film and
closely involved in a number of significant series such as Poirot. Over the
years her work and interests and later involvement in creative arts
makes for an interesting talk and sharing of many memories and
anecdotes.

Friday April 8 2.30pm The Mowlem “Bumps in the Bay” Dan Bosence,
Professor Carbonate Sedimentology of Royal Holloway University of
London has been working for the past few years with Swanage Divers
on unusual geological features found underwater along the southern
coast of Purbeck. The talk originally booked for spring 2020 was
postponed due to the pandemic but has allowed for further dives and
research into the “bumps” and hopefully some conclusions as to their
formation and why they are here. Dan, and divers who have been
involved, will give the presentation and be available for discussion. The
project and research is ongoing.
