Cider Company, established their farm shop in 2021 next to their
orchards after years of developing the now much loved and highly
regarded cider. Society members and friends are invited to come to the
farm for a guided tour and to try the various ciders and apple juices they
produce and see the trees in full bloom. Bring a picnic but the shop does
sell, crisps, cake and ice cream. There are a number of picnic benches
and tables outside and under cover should the need arise.

        Other society matters.

The society has become more involved in certain local issues such as
planning and associated matters such as housing and impacts from
building levels. The pressure on existing properties, sites and threats to
green areas and habitats as a result on government directives,
developers and demand for second homes and lack of affordable
housing and rentable properties has increased. As associated members
of the Council for the protection of Rural England (CPRE) and Civic Voice
(association of Civic Societies) the role of the society has developed over
the past 5 years. It is felt such issues although somewhat different from
the original aims of the society are important in the current climate. The
work carried out by the society for the buildings survey since 2017 has
highlighted the threat to the town by insensitive development and the
pandemic has reduced transparency regarding planning proposals and
the failure of application information from local authority planning
portals has led to decreased public awareness of certain developments.
