BEYOND BASICS
The Start from the End concept
states that the ending of one
technique is the beginning for the
next. Again, this is a concept most
folks understand but most fail to
delve deeper into how to apply it
effectively.
A simple example is that everyone
is taught that when you punch, one
hand extends the other draws back
and they both finish
simultaneously. This way punches can be performed in rapid
succession.
“Start from the End” is also applicable to the section on Speed as
it will increase the overall speed of a combination technique.
It’s also a product of the Three Weapons concept especially as
applied to kicking footwork. The Three Weapons concept is to have
three weapons available and ready whenever you shift from a
neutral position. This especially applies to combination techniques
which include kicks.
“Where is the weight after landing the
first Front Kick?”
The main error which prevents the rapid flow of a combination
technique is being out of position for the next technique. Whether
it's a stance too long or being out of position.
For example, the Jab, Reverse Punch. The end of the Jab is the start
of the Reverse Punch.
