A major component of the ICD event in Perth was acknowledging Dr
John Owen AM for his ten years of service on the Section VIII Board as
he has completed his term as Immediate Past President and departs
the Board. Following the induction of new Fellows in Perth, John was
presented with a Section VIII Past President’s pin by President Richard
Sawers AM and was also awarded Honorary Life Membership by the
Board.

This special occasion was also used to award Honorary ICD Fellowship
to Jan Owen AM acknowledging the vital leadership and management
roles she plays with John in the Kimberley Dental Team which has
provided dental care and oral health education in remote Aboriginal
communities in the Kimberley region since 2009. (see separate article
in this newsletter)

Following the special presentations, Fellows and their guests enjoyed
dinner and collegiality for the remainder of the evening. The night
was capped off with entertainment by the Singing Waiters.
