his service in numerous executive positions and
chair of many committees.

Section VIII Just Got Bigger!

For many years, Section VIII of ICD (Australasia) has been described as being comprised of “Australia,
New Zealand, Fiji Islands and Papua New Guinea”. At the 2022 Council meeting, the Council approved
the Section VIII Board’s petition to expand the countries within the jurisdiction of Section VIII to include
“Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Timor Leste and the South Pacific islands of Fiji, Cook
Islands, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu and Western Samoa”.

South Pacific islands that have a close affiliation with other countries, i.e., American Samoa (USA),
Easter Islands (Chile), New Caledonia (France), Tahiti (France) and Wallis/Futuna (France) were not
included in the Board’s petition to Council.

Now the Board will consider a new descriptive name for our Section which is currently “Australasia”.
