Of the 17 new Fellows inducted in Christchurch, eleven are from New Zealand: Mo Amso, Chris Brooks , Gavin
Cho, Ellen Clark, James Goodrich, Juliet Gray, Liz Hitchings, Erin Mahoney, Kate Naysmith, Benedict Seo and
Liz Webb. Three are from Australia: Ray Khong, Ann Monteith and Annalene Weston. New Fellows Amanaki
Fakakovikaetau and Sisilia Fifita are from the Kingdom of Tonga and are the first two dentists from Tonga ever

inducted into the International College of Dentists. (See profiles in this newsletter.)

Liz Webb was inducted as an Honorary Fellow of ICD. Unfortunately, Liz had to be inducted in absentia as
she returned from volunteer work in Vanuatu shortly before the induction ceremony in Christchurch and had
contracted COVID. (See profile in this newsletter.)

This was the first induction ceremony in New Zealand since 2012 at which the full Section VIII Board was
scheduled to attend (apologies from Regent Ian Meyers and President Rick Sawers AM).

The occasion marked a changing of the guard for Section VIII with long serving Board member Clive Ross
CNZM stepping down from the Board in October at the conclusion of the International Council meeting.
The induction ceremony in Christchurch gave the Board the opportunity to acknowledge Clive’s service to
ICD during his 24 years on the Board, both personally and publicly. The Board presented Clive with an ICD
Distinguished Service Award during the luncheon and a special memento of his service to our Section.

The ceremony in Christchurch closed with presentation of Honorary Life Membership to David Crum ONZM
in recognition of his service on the Section VIII Board, especially the vital role he played in enhancing the
relationship between ICD and the NZDA. David returned to the Section VIII Board as International Councillor
replacing Clive on October 16 at the conclusion of the 2022 International Council meeting.
