“Thanks Dan. I certainly followed the red path last Friday.” Said Tom, almost
apologetically.
“I thought it over the weekend but was somewhat confused about what I could have done
differently. It is now clear. I interpreted Rob’s question as a threat and went down the red
path. Irrespective of his intent, if I had paused and thought, i.e. if I was ThERe, I could have
taken it as an opportunity to engage and win-win!”
“I am glad you can see it this way Tom. It is not easy. We are programmed to react instantly
as soon as we perceive a threat. It takes strong commitment and patience to pause. ThERe is
the only solution.”
“I am totally committed Dan, driven by your empathy and compassion for me. Thanks
again for your time. I really appreciate it. I will see you again next Monday.”
Dan had chosen not to share the Conundrum of Expectations as he thought it was probably
not relevant for Tom at this stage. But they discussed Expectations Swap and agreed to review
and align each other’s expectations next Monday.
Tom left with commitment to convert the knowledge to learning and practice it.
‘The morning was well spent. We made a difference today.’ Thought Dan.
Rest of the week was busy but quiet.
Dan rushed through completion of his weekly work as much anticipated Friday evening
approached.
