FOURTEEN

Dan was up quite early Monday morning. Apart from his scheduled meeting with Tom, he

had decided to record his week’s learnings in the morning instead of usual Sunday night. He

did not have the heart to leave Betsy alone in the celebratory mood of last night.

He moved to his study. He had to clear his mind as a lot had happened over the weekend.

He started to relive the week, starting Monday meeting with Tom.

‘The conflict with Tom was resolved in a win-win engagement. He also appeared to be seeking and soaking

well. But apparently, he did not sift and share well enough to convert knowledge into learning. It was obvious

by his behavior in my Leadership Team meeting.’

‘But he got provoked by Rob as he later explained. People will always say or do something that can offend

us. We cannot regulate their actions. What really matters is our response to it, which is within our control.

ThERe is the right way, but it requires a lot of maturity and practice. Tom was certainly not ThERe, and his

disappointing response showed it. However, isn’t it too much to expect him to practice his new knowledge so

fast. Am I being unfair? I need to give him more time to learn and practice. The session with him today will

be particularly important.’

‘I must explain ThERe concept to Tom in a simpler way. How?’ and a thought took root. He opened

excel and started to punch keys. 10 minutes later he stopped, looked at his work and smiled.

‘Yes, that will work.’ He thought and printed the file.
