appropriate time to talk about my values but it may probably help you too as it complements

               your Conundrum of Expectations model.”

“We will love to hear Vik.” Betsy and Dan said in unison.

“Indians believe in the concept of impermanence or ‘Anitya’ in Sanskrit; everything in the

universe is transient and will cease to exist; what is born will die. While I know my end is

inevitable, when and how my journey will end is unknown to me. Will I get an opportunity to

say, ‘I love you Anne’ tomorrow? I do not know. The only thing ‘Nitya’ or permanent, is the

present moment while it lasts. And I have a choice – either I seize it to do or say what truly

matters to me or rue over it. Tomorrow may or may not be for me!”

“Alas, knowledge that remains unutilized, is worse than ignorance. This is why I am so

               upset with myself.”

He paused and looked at their mesmerized faces.

Dan was tempted to explain his Learning Cycle but knew this is not the right moment.

Instead, he said, “I know what you mean. It is the lose-lose ostrich behavior, just to appease

               one’s ego.”

                  “Yes Dan. Ego it was.”

“Impermanence of the body is accepted in most cultures, but we also believe in permanence

of the real self, ‘Atman’ in Sanskrit; while the body along with its ego decays, the spirit or soul

is eternal and indestructible. Sadly, I allowed my impermanent ego to take control of my

permanent self!” Anguish clearly visible on his face.
