‘Good job Amy. She is better than I had been told. Certainly, I am witnessing Mindful Attitude; she has

explained Tom’s micromanagement problem without a single word against the boss. In fact, she is praising him.

Is she the ‘Star’ on our Contribution-Potential Matrix?’ He thought.

“What if you are given independent charge of project NG with responsibility for broadscale

deployment of your concept ‘restaurant-like-flexibility’ in supply chain across the category,

and probably the company?”

“I would love it Dan.” Amy replied without hesitation, “There is nothing I will like more

than proving my concept and getting it ready for broadscale reapplication.”

Now that Amy had accepted to stay because of her passion for the project, Dan did not

mind sharing the next good news. He had held it back because he wanted Amy’s decision to

be independent of this materialistic inducement.

“We will promote you to Section Manager in the new role.”

“Thanks Dan. I really appreciate it. Promotion will be nice but leading my dream project

excites me more. Thanks for giving me the opportunity Dan.” Replied Amy with a shy smile.

“I am delighted that you have decided to stay Amy. Please do not share this with anyone.

We will soon make an announcement. Thanks again and best wishes,”

“Thanks Dan. It is my pleasure.”

As Amy walked away, Dan was thinking.

‘Is there a learning for me? The assignment to lead project NG has excited her more than the promotion!’
