“Not at all Dan. This has been one of the most pleasant and enjoyable weekends I have
had in years. You go ahead and finish your work. I will see you at dinner.” Replied Betsy and
walked to her bedroom.
Dan went to the kitchen, took out a chilled beer can and moved to his study. He closed the
door as he walked in. Beer in hand, he turned on his laptop and moved to the notes he had
hurriedly made on Friday evening.
Dan’s Notes June 27, 2011
My Second meeting with Ron Falcon
1. It was a learning experience. I had never considered communication this way.
I need to do lot of work on all the aspects.’
2. ‘Feel’ & ‘Think’ are the starting point, holding 11 pillars of Effective
Communication. Silence and other nonverbals are so important.
3. ‘Ask’ is an extremely important, but misused aspect of communication.
4. Most of us are weak in ‘Listen’.
5. Communication is a two-way process and is not complete till the other party
responds. Email etiquettes need to be learnt and taught.
Dan sat deep in thought, Ron’s meeting running through frame by frame. As he completed
the replay in his mind, he realized that he missed the question Ron had posed in the end. He
quickly added another point to the list.
6. Good communication is not only what to say, but also what Not to say!
