“It is not that difficult Dan,” replied Ron and with a smile added, “now that you are aware,

you will become conscious. But the more important aspect is to care for the people; empathy

and compassion will automatically follow. Genuine care comes only when your concern is

selfless. This is important to understand.”

“You may have noticed that some people ‘show’ they care, but it is for a ‘purpose’. This

‘selfish show’ is neither empathy nor compassion. This falsehood can easily be seen through

and the motives get questioned and doubted.”

Listening to Ron, Dan started to think of his meeting with Tom.

‘This makes lot of sense. Although I met Tom out of care and concern for him, I was certainly operating from

Control, rather than Empathy or Compassion. No wonder Tom felt I was trying to persuade him with some

ulterior motive.’

Ron’s words pulled him back. “As a final point, because it does not encourage participation

of others, Control confines the options and constraints the results as the decisions and actions

are based only on our personal knowledge and experiences.”

“Empathy and Compassion, on the other hand, broaden our horizon and excite

involvement and contribution of others for better decision making and superior results.”

Ron looked at his watch. “It is quite late Dan. So, if you do not have any question, let us

call it a wrap. However, I do want you to mull over, ‘is Conflict good or bad?’. We will discuss

it next Friday”
