~ Mr. George and Mrs. Camilla Barnes ~
The Barneses worked behind the scenes from the very beginning of Tajiri and for many years thereafter. They were always available
to do whatever they could. Mr. Barnes put up mirrors, ballet bars, and moved furniture for the first classes held at my home at 104
Hays Drive. Mrs. Barnes was my hair stylist and makeup artist for all of my stage appearances. They even financed supplies for classes
before we could afford them. They also covered the cost of the display cases that held our Awards and Artifacts when we moved to
our permanent facility.
Mrs. Camilla Barnes served as an Entrepreneurship Instructor and a fantastic Executive Director. She often took her classes to visit
businesses in the community to enhance their knowledge of business operations so that they could become excellent entrepreneurs.
In her classroom you could observe students designing their entrepreneurial ideas and developing their five-year business plans. Under
her leadership, her students sponsored a program that honored the Sanford City and County Commissioners for their outstanding
financial contributions to Tajiri’s academic and performing arts curriculum.
Thank you, Mrs. and Mrs. George and Camilla Banes for your faithfulness to Tajiri.
~ Mr. Henry and Mrs. Jackie Dean ~
As a Tajiri Board Member, Mr. Henry Dean made himself available to attend workshops that pertained to the operation of 501(c)3
organizations. Whenever we needed a representative at these meetings, Mr. Dean was always accommodating and cheerful. After Mr.
Henry Nixon’s sickness and demise, Mr. Dean expertly recorded Tajiri’s expenditures. His wife, Mrs. Jackie Dean, assisted Tajiri by
writing grants. The Deans were diligent in their service to Tajiri. They always participated in whatever area we needed help.
Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Dean, for all you did to keep Tajiri on the map as a superior Performing Arts Program and Museum.
