Objectives of the pre-migration learning
It’s good to have goals so that you know what you are aiming for and so that you
can measure your success. Each section of this workbook has a learning
objective and self-checks where applicable. Being able to complete the self-
checks lets you know you have achieved the objective. By the end of part 1 of
this workbook you will specifically be able to: -

• Login to your site and manage access
• Find your way round the Dashboard
• Edit an existing page
• Create a new page
• Upload media/photos and files to a media library
• Add media/photos and files to a page or post from the media library
• Create link from a page to a document
• Create link from a page to an external website
• Preview a page for use on multiple devices
• View and navigate page hierarchy
• Create a new group and add content
• Add venues, contacts, and groups
• Create an Event
• Manage email access to groups, cloaked or uncloaked
• View group data in multiple ways
• Create and edit pages or posts using the following blocks: - Paragraph,
Heading, Image, Gallery, Media and Text, Gutenslider, Spacer, Columns
Tables, Separator, Buttons, Stack, Row, and List
• Create a Notice
• Create and edit Posts
• Add a button to your site navigation menu
• Add content to a new page using a variety of text and media layouts
• Password protect pages
• Recreate the training demo file Welcome page
• Create a page from your Site Builder site or a brand-new page using at
least six different blocks

You will be able to do these things from memory or by referencing this
document or by using your own notes. We’ll revisit this list towards the end of
part 1 so that you can go down the list yourself to check your progress and
readiness to move on towards migration.
Self-Checks and How to Use Them
When our sites are migrated the conversion tool is very good and the vast
majority of our data, photos, and uploaded files move over which is a huge time
saving as we don’t have to re-key everything. What does happen is that we lose
some formatting such as spaces between paragraphs so there will be some
cleaning up to do before we want our sites to go live. This will involve some
editing at migration time and the Self-Checks in this section will prepare you to
