                                                     By Katelyn Spurlock

I remember one Christmas in particular when I was 11 years old. I wanted a new bike

more than anything else in this world. However, I didn’t have much hope that I was going to get

one. They were costly at the time, and my parents had 3 kids to buy gifts for. It wasn’t like I

wanted any ole regular bike either. I wanted a 10-speed bike. It had gears and brakes on the

bike. I exclaimed with excitement to my parents just how grateful I was and how much it meant

to me that they got me that bike. From that moment on I rode that bike everywhere.

From where I lived there was a little convenience store down the road, and it was all

gravel road but wasn't very far. Our parents would let us ride our bikes down to the store. After I
