112 The Unforgettable Moments in Life
Where You Grew Up

I grew up on a farm in the middle of nowhere, so I remember seeing a lot of blue sky and
trees all around me because it's in a valley. There were mountains all around the farm. The farm
had black and white cows that my dad milked because we had a dairy farm. I used to have to
help my dad milk the cows so I smelled cows a lot. The smell of cow poop grew. We had a
garden, so I would have to go out and help my mom in the vegetable garden. I remember pulling
weeds and digging up the potatoes. When I pulled up the potatoes, I felt the ground kind of sift
through my fingers. I also had two younger brothers, and for a while, our primary goal was to
literally try to kill each other because I thought they hated me.
