The tradition we have is every Christmas we dance for the churches that are known as
MNFC (Marshallese New Fellowship Church), and there’s more than one MNFC, but it’s around
the world. They come here to Springdale and it’s combined. We come together and we dance for
them and they dance for us. The main pastor for MNFC decides who wins.
On the morning of December 24, 2022, I was sleeping over with my grandparents. My
parents wanted me home so they could prepare my outfit for the night of Christmas, but I didn’t
go home. The next morning, I went with my auntie to go shopping. She told me to get out of the
car so I could buy a dress. My parents called and asked me if I had a dress, I told them I didn’t,
so they asked my aunt if she could buy me one since I was already with them. Once I got out of
