quilt. When a loved one is expecting a baby, a quilt for the baby is in order. I like to pick the

pattern and the material that I use, but sometimes the person asks for a specific print of material.

I never seem to like those as well as the ones that I choose. When each of my children got

married, they received a Wedding Ring quilt from my mother. I have tried to make each of my

grandchildren a Wedding Ring quilt when their time came to get married. However, these quilts

require a lot of small shapes and it is very time-consuming to cut and then sew each square and

then sew them all together to form the quilt.

I don’t know if I'm going to be able to do the great-grandsons’ and granddaughters’ quilts

for their graduation. Not very many of my nieces have taken up quilting, so I am hoping one of

my grandchildren will continue this tradition. I know one of my granddaughters is interested in

quilting so maybe she will continue this tradition. Maybe between my daughter and I, we can

teach her to sew and inspire her to get passionate about quilting so that this tradition will not

become a lost art.
