When I was fourteen, we left the only home I had known. I was really scared of what was

going to happen. We walked for 2 days straight, until we passed the border. We had people

waiting for us which was a relief. We drove 12 hours until we got to our new place where

everything was going to change and be different. When we arrived, I thought about the new

place and the new life I was going to have. I got really excited just thinking about the changes,

but we had to get some rest. Life in the new place felt great. It felt like a dream. It was weird at

first but everything went well in the new place.

My life changed a lot when I moved. Yes, sometimes I miss the old house, but I am

happy where I am. I started staying home alone a lot because my dad would always be working

and would never be home. I always cook for myself because my dad is never home. In Mexico,

my dad would always be home on time to cook me food. I do miss that. Moving from another

country can be hard, but it can change your life by giving you the opportunity to go to school and

learn new things.
