94 The Unforgettable Moments in Life
Day Of The Dead Party

It was Nov. 1, 2021, the day of the dead, and the day I first was allowed to help for this
year's big party we were going to have at my house later that night. My family and I had to
prepare the house by 7 pm. At 12 am, I started to sweep around the house making sure no trash
was left behind. At 1:30 pm, we started decorating the house and table to add a spooky theme for
the Day of the Dead.
While we worked on that, my two older brothers and my uncle were in charge of sending
the invitations to our family. By three in the afternoon, my grandma and grandpa, and my mom
helped to make the food. They always cooked the best food on the Day of the Dead. The foods
that were included for this special day were tamales of pork, tacos of cow tongue and carne
asada that my grandpa makes, mole, chicken covered in this brown sauce, and pozole, a soup
with meat and rice. The pork tamales are my favorite because I have been eating them since I
was very young and I always remember how good they taste. The pork is mildly spicy with fatty
flavors that melt in my mouth. Once that is done, we set all of the food on the dining table
because we are gonna have lots of families. At five-thirty in the afternoon, it is our queue to
prepare ourselves for the night.
Once we are done with the house and food, I take a shower and get dressed. For an occasion
like this, I always dress nicely. After I am ready, I wait till the rest of my family shows up. We
