The Electrical Contractor will confirm the final size of the cables to suit the rating of the sub-
main protection device, taking account of any applicable de-rating factors.
Existing equipment connected to a kitchen bus-bar is to be retained as connected, unless
otherwise instructed by the Project Manager.
Where no spare circuit ways are available at the existing main switchboard, the IT Power
distribution pan assemble will be connected at the final MCB of the Kitchen Distribution
board.
1.7.2.2 Connections to Kitchen Equipment
All new equipment and equipment chases will be provided with electrical supply connections
from the new Kitchen Distribution.
Supplies to new equipment will be provided with in-line or wall mounted sockets in
accordance with the requirements identified on the kitchen equipment suppliers’ drawings,
or otherwise as indicated in the appendices of the Technical Specifications for Electrical
Installations Generally.
1.7.2.3 Protective Devices
The MCBs associated with the kitchen equipment supplies will generally be selected to
match the rating of the socket requested by the kitchen equipment supplier or otherwise as
indicated in the appendices of the Technical Specifications for Electrical Installations
Generally.
All plug and socket supplies will be fitted with 30mA RCD protection, without exception.
The Electrical Contractor will check the size and rating of cables installed connected to the
plugs by the kitchen equipment supplier and adjust the rating of the associated circuit
breakers in the Kitchen Panel to maintain the safe operation of the distribution. The
Electrical Contractor will notify the Project Manager of any discrepancies identified.
Modifications to breaker ratings are to be identified and noted in the record documentation.
1.7.2.4 Cabling
Cabling to new devices and equipment will be installed as LSF insulated multicore cables on
tray, circuits will be radial unless otherwise agreed with the Project Manager. Cabling will be
