“Amelia, will you be alright looking after him while we catch up the lambs?”
asked Grandpa.
“Oh yes, I am thinking about becoming a doctor, so this is good practice”, she
replied.
By now, Jackson had moved a little further down the hill and spotted the hole
through which the lambs had escaped.
Jackson yelled down to the others “I’ve found the hole. I will stop them
running past it and hopefully they will go back into the field.”
“Well done, Jackson”, replied Harry. “Right, gang, let’s drive the lambs back
up the hill”. “Try to keep them on the top of the bank so they find their way
home”.
James scrambled up the bank to follow them along the fence line. Harry and
Ellie followed on the road making noises to scare the lambs. Bells hurried on
ahead, hoping not to be noticed by the lambs, to help Jackson.
The lambs hurried along and on spotting Jackson and the hole in the fence
darted back into the field.
“Stay there, Jackson, while we get some logs to block the hole”, called Harry.
James picked up some large fallen pieces of wood on the bank and arranged
them in the hole. “That should do it”, he said.
Everyone returned to the poor motorcyclist who, under Amelia’s care, was
looking so much better.
“Due to coronavirus, it could be hours before an ambulance comes so it may be
better if I run you in to the William Harvey in my pickup. When I was a boy, I
broke my collar bone and had to catch a bus to the hospital so I am sure you can
survive my driving”, said Grandpa.
Reluctantly the man agreed. “But what about my bike?”, he asked.
“We will keep it in the yard until you are able to collect it”, replied Grandpa.
“Wait here and I will fetch the pickup”.
Annabel and Amelia pushed the bike into the yard and hid it out of sight. It was
very heavy! Jackson walked back up the hill with Bells and offered her a lift in
the gator. She was very excited at the thought of a ride in the gator even if it
was, Jackson driving. The two drove down the hill.
