About the Susie B. White Scholarship Foundation

Since it began in 2011, the Susie B. White Scholarship program has awarded more than
$31,000 to fourteen (14) students across the Natchez, MS area. In 2020, the scholarship
program was extended to include Bethlehem Baptist Church students. Mrs. White’s
husband, Louis White was an active member of Bethlehem.

The scholarship selection process is competitive. The graduating high school senior must:
                        • complete an application as well as be an active member or child of an active
member of the Greater St. Mark Baptist Church or Bethlehem Missionary
                           Baptist Church
                        • be accepted into an accredited college or university
                        • submit a letter of acceptance from the accredited college or university
                        • show a minimum GPA of 2.75 supported by a current transcript from their high
                           school
                        • provide letters of recommendations from the community and their church.

The funds that are available each year to be awarded in scholarships, consist of major
funding from the White Family and tax-deductible contributions from all over the country.
They are received by the Susie B. White Scholarship Foundation Committee. All funds
are distributed directly to the college of choice by the recipient at the beginning of the
                academic school year.

For the White Family and Greater St. Mark and Bethlehem, it is an investment in our
future. For students, it is acknowledgement that years of hard work and showing initiative
have been recognized by their principals, teachers, and guidance counselors – and others
who believe in their potential. The scholarship committee, after more than 10 years
overseeing the scholarship program continues to be impressed by the caliber of the
                students.

Like so many leaders and achievers the recipients – from the scholarship program first
recipient to this year’s recipient, -- embodies the best of what this program is all about:
smart, creative, dedicated students who are not only strong academically, but who strive
                to make a difference.
