temporarily with tho approval of the Govornor-Gonoral of India in
Council for such Political Agent.
“ Political Agency" moans tho ollico, rosidonco, Court, or other appointed
plnco of business of tho Political Agent.
“ Political Resident ” means His Majosty’s Political Resident in tho Persian
Gulf, including a porson acting temporarily with tho approval of the
Govcrnor-Gonoral of India in Council for such Political Resident.
“Rules of Court” means rules of Court made under tho provisions of
this Order.
“Secretary ot Stato ” moans ouo of Ilis Majesty's Principal Secretaries
of Stato.
“ Sheikh of Bahrein ” moans tho ruling Sheikh of Bahrein, or his duly
accredited ropresontative for tho time being.
“ Ship ” includes any vessel used in navigation, howovov propelled, with
her tackle, furniture, and apparel, and any boat or otlior craft.
“ Treaty ” includes any Capitulations, Convention, Agreement, or Arrange­
ment made by or on behalf of His Majesty with any Stato or
Government, King, Chief, peoplo, or tribo, or to tho benefits of
which His Majesty has succeeded, whether tho Sheikh of Bahrein
is or is not a party thcroto.
“ Will ” means will, codicil, or other testamentary instrument.
Expressions used in any enactments nppliod to Bahrein, or in any Rules,
Regulations, or Orders made under this Order, shall, unless a contrary intention
appears, have the samo rcspoctivo meanings in this Order.

5.—(1) Iu this Ordor words importing tho plural or tho singular may
bo construed ns referring to ono porson or thing, or to moro than one porson
or thing, and words importing tho masculine as roforriug to tho feminine, as
tho caso may require.
(2) Where this Ordor confers any powor or imposes any duty, then, unless
a contrary intention appears, tho powor may bo oxorcisod, and the duty shall
bo performed from time to tirno ns occasiou roquiros.
(.’3) Where this Order confors a powor, or imposos a duty on, or with
respect to, a holder of an ollico, as such, thou, unloss a contrary intention appears,
tho power may be oxorcisod and tho duty shall bo performed by, or with
respect to, tho holder for tho timo boing of tho ollico or tho person temporarily
acting for tho holder.
(4) Whoro this Ordpr confors a powor to mako any Rulos, Regulations,
or Orders, tho powor shall, unloss a contrary intention appears, bo construed I
as including a powor exercisable in tho lilco manner and subjoct to tho liko
consent and conditions, if any, to rcsciud, revoke, vary, or ainond tho Rulos,
Regulations, or Ordors.
