of this Order.
32. Tho Foreign Jurisdiction Neutrality Ordor in Council, 1901, shall apply
to all porsons and to all proporty subject to this Order.
33. Whore a persou entitled to appeal to tho Chiof Court from any
judgment or ordor passed in tho oxorciso of criminal jurisdiction undor (his
Ordor dosircs so to appeal, ho shall presont his petition of appeal to tho
Court which passed tho judgment or ordor; and tho petition shall with all
practicable speed bo transmitted to tho Chiof Court with certified copios of tho
chargo (if any) and proceedings of all documentary cvidonco admitted or tendered,
of the depositions, of tho notes of the oral testimony, and of tho judgment or
ordor, and any argumont on tho petition of appeal that the appollanl. desires
to submit to tho Chief Court.
34. Tho Court against whoso judgment or order tho appeal is preferred
may postpone tho execution of tho sontcnco pending tho appeal, and shall, if
necessary, commit tho person convicted to prison for Rafo custody, or detain
him in prison for safo custody, or shall admit him to bail, and may lake
security, by recognizanco, doposit of money, or otherwise, for his payment
of any fine.
Part IV.-Civil.
35.—(1) Subject to tho othor provisions of this Order, tho Code of Civil
Procedure and the other Indiau onactmonts, relating to tho administration of
Civil justice and to insolvency and bankruptcy, shall havo effect as if Bahrein
were a district in tho Presidency of Bombay. The Political Agont shall bo
deemed to bo tho District Judge, and his Court shall bo deemed to bo tho
District or Principal Civil Court of Original Jurisdiction in the District; tho
Judicial Assistant to tho Political llcsidcnt shall bo deemed to be an Additional
District Judge, and his Court shall bo an Additional District Court of Original
Civil Jurisdiction; tho Court of tho Political Kcsidcut shall bo deemed to bo tho
highest Civil Court of Appeal for tho District, and the Court authorized to hear
appeals from tho decisions of tho District Court; and the powers, both of tho
Governor General in Council and tho Local Govornment, under thoso enactments
shall bo exercisable by the Secretary of Stale, or, with his previous or subsequent
assent, by tho Govcrnor-Goncral of India in Council.
(2) Any jurisdiction exercisable by the Chief Court under this Order in
civil matters may be exercised by tho Judge of that Court, either within tho
limits of this Order or olsowhcro.
30. When a suit between persons to whom this Ordor applies is tiled in tho
Political Agency, the Political Agent shall enquire from tho sovoral parties
whether they desire that proceedings shall bo instituted in accordance with
the Code of Civil Procedure and tho Indian enactments made applicable to
Bahrein, or in accordance with local usago, and shall record Ihoir replies,
