In reply to your letter Do* 3036, dated the 88th Eovember
1909, regarding the withdrawal of Turkish guar da from the
Zakhnuniya island, I am dlreoted to inform you that the
Government of India aro unable to aooord permission to the
Shaikh to fly his flag on the island, as suoh a prooedure
might raise questions of policy and disturb the aifliajD quo.
2* Should the Shaikh of Bahrein revert to the question, he
moy bo told that, as no flag has been flown since the time of
his father, it seems unnecessary at the present Junoture to
depart from established precedent*
