WE POKE AND PRY AND RESEARCH WITH A PURPOSE
This year demanded a transition into online learning mode. The Department
of Computer Science trained students and staff to become tech-savvy enough for
a smooth transition. Workshops were conducted on Internet Safety, Digital Citizenship
and Healthy Computing in order to lay the right foundation among students. Each
Computer Teacher has created video lectures, Google forms and online worksheets to be
able to teach and assess students’ learning.
Students of Class I enjoyed Augmented Reality Sessions using Google AR. They did
Virtual Tours to National Parks and Zoo. Students of Class II Created animated Mother’s Day
cards using the Canva App. They also learnt about Input and Output devices through
Show and Tell Competition. Quizzes were made engaging by using Kahoot software.
Students of classes IV and V enjoyed Virtual Tours to the Seven Wonders of the World. They
learnt creating animated story books using Google’s Toontastic App and Creating
animations using Pivot Animator. Students were sensitized towards Digital citizenship.
Brainstorming, debates and discussion sessions were conducted. Students created interesting
posters depicting various aspects of how to stand up against cyber bullying, differentiate
between ‘Private’ and ‘Public while you being online, importance of strong
passwords, etc. They created songs, videos, posters and presentations that sensitise people
to think about how to be safe, responsible, and respectful online. Class VI was taught how to
create e-mail account and maintain Internet Security. Class VII was taught Video
Editing skill using various mobile apps and softwares. Demonstrations were
given on how to scan a computer using an antivirus software. Class VIII created
Websites using HTML on current topics like “Save the Environment” and “Corona Pandemic”.
In Senior Classes, emphasis was laid on two aspects : Teaching Programming and making
our Students explore and Research the current and emerging technologies. Students Learn
Python Programming Language. To make them aware about the Computer Industry, every
month, an interesting problem is given to the students. Students find it challenging and rewarding,
and put the best of their expertise, hard work and skill in it.
