THE STUDY OF HUMAN PSYCHE
The Department of Psychology encourages concept based learning. ‘Meeting Life Challenges – Lockdown
Diaries’ an activity for class for XII encouraged students to prepare presentations on ways to deal with stress
during the lockdown. An assignment based on pictorial depiction of ‘Psychology in Everyday Life’ was conducted
for class XI to depict how the ongoing pandemic correlates with the subject. Through such activities various
aspects like effect across different age groups, effect on nature and humans at individual, family, national and
international levels were covered. Students participated actively and made collages and drawings. To make
students aware about Self-care routine, a project was assigned in which they made thoughtful posters, charts,
songs, short videos representing their self-care routine.
Amity Youth Forum under the aegis of Amity University conducted an online competition for school students under
2020 online school edition for classes XI and XII. Around 13 students enrolled for Psych-Art (a poster
making competition) and 14 students participated in the Psychrom (an online psychology-based quiz
competition). The psychology department also conducted a research on how different cultural communities deal
with the pandemic COVID-19. Survey results and presentation helped students engage in enquiry-based learning.
We did case analysis where students were asked to watch a movie or explore about a real-life character suffering
from a psychological disorder and to also study the symptoms shown by the protagonist to explore the disorder
diagnosed. The students enrolled for the online summer internship program organized by Fortis school mental
health program and learnt under the leadership of eminent psychologists.
