FEAR UNMA S KED
this time we have a showroom and a shop. We
look like a real company. Everything was lining
up and the three years of grinding it out was
finally getting us somewhere.
Then, the virus hit. We are now in survival
mode, wondering what to do. How long can we
survive this? If we do not have the same revenue
coming in, what customers will we lose now and
in the future? Do I still try to sell retail which only
made up 40 percent of my business? How do I get
new builders? I have so many questions that even
with thirty-five years in the building and cabinet
industry, I didn’t have an answer for any of them.
It’s been approximately two weeks since the
virus became a physical obstacle now in our way.
Like any entrepreneur, we have a problem. We
look at how to get around it, under it, over it,
through it. We need to keep moving. Our retail
business is now at zero revenue. We still have a
few projects that we are trying to finish up, but
we run into more obstacles because of the virus
every day. I hope our company survives. I’m
fifty-six years old and will lose everything. I don’t
think I have another start-up in me. I just keep
repeating to myself: this too will pass.
