This is the first time in my forty-plus years that I
have seen something affect the American people’s

lives in a way that takes away their hope. Even after
9/11, we all gathered together; we gave each other
hope and kept the country going. This coronavirus
is a tipping point for everyone I know.
Did you get swept away with the tidal wave
of news saying the sky was falling, hide in your
homes until it blows over? Or did you stand up

with a voice of hope and fight. I had to figure out
who I was as a father to give hope to my kids. I
had to learn what kind of husband I needed to be
to give hope to my wife. I was tasked with being a
boss and father to my employees to restore their
hope. And finally I had to choose what kind of
business owner my customers needed to be able
to have hope in this “time of crisis.” I needed to
receive hope also to be able to give it.

I learned quickly I could not rely on any
news sources to give me hope, because they all
wanted to quarantine everyone and hide from
