After about six weeks, the family will be contacted by the Emergency
Department and invited back to discuss the admission with the team
who were on duty at the time. You can expect to receive either a letter
or telephone call to arrange this.
Registering the death
If the cause of death appears to be clear and is due to a natural cause,
you will be issued with the MCCD. All deaths must be registered with
the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages in the borough in which
they have occurred. King’s College Hospital is in the borough of
Lambeth.

has died:
• The Medical Certificate of Cause of Death
• Full name (and maiden name if applicable)
• Date and place of birth
• Usual address
• Marital status, and date of birth of surviving widow, widower
or civil partner
• Occupation, and the name and occupation of their wife,
husband or civil partner
• The medical card if you have it
• If it is a child, the parents’ names and occupations.
