Meet the recruiters: Ask us anything

                     Q. What’s your favorite interview icebreaker?
Isabelle: Before I interview someone, I try to find something that I can connect with them on whether it is a
hobby, or soft skill in their resume. Not everyone is extroverted, and interviewing can be a daunting task. I want
candidates to feel comfortable talking to me so I can gauge their cultural fit within the role they are interviewing
for and the organization. Being a cultural fit within a team/organization is just as important as someone’s
technical skills and being able to connect with someone fosters trust in a relationship.

Quashonda: So I actually have two, "What sparked your interest in this role?" and "What do you know about
The MIL Corporation?" They both get the candidate speaking and engaged and are both great open-ended
                     questions!
Saira: “Can you tell me a little about yourself?” This type of question helps to ease the candidate into the
interview and allows them to relax a bit while sharing information about themselves. It also gives you a chance
to learn more about the candidate beyond their resume and professional experience.
                     Q. Why did you choose recruiting and what’s the best part of the job?

Quashonda: I enjoy recruiting as I feel that recruiting is the heart of every organization. Being able to help the
company bring on amazing employees that will be a wonderful asset to the team is always extremely rewarding
                     for me.
Saira: I realized recruiting allows me to constantly learn new skills and work with a variety of people. Every
day brings new challenges and opportunities to connect with others. What I love most about this job is the
satisfaction of seeing the impact that my work has on both the candidates and the hiring managers. Additionally,
recruiting has taught me valuable skills in communication, problem-solving, and organization, which I have
been able to apply in other areas of my life. Overall, recruiting is an exciting and fulfilling career that allows me
to learn and grow while making a positive impact on others.
                     Q. What’s the most important quality of a good recruiter and why is it essential?

Kamryn: Organization! There are a lot of factors when it comes to recruiting/sourcing, with that being said,
organization is key. It helps when it comes to staying on top of potential candidates, and balancing multiple
requisitions that you are recruiting for.
Daniel: I would say Patience is a necessity in this line of work. The number of factors in place that can
contribute to the success or downfall in this field is tremendous. From candidates, hiring managers, or even the
flow of the job market; constantly working with people and moving pieces will require a sense of calmness and
composure to get the job done correctly and effectively.

Quashonda: Definitely Communication, being able to place yourself in the shoes of the applicant but also
represent the company has always been important!
Saira: The most important quality of a good recruiter, in my opinion, is the ability to connect with candidates on
a personal level. Building a rapport with candidates is essential because it allows recruiters to truly understand
their unique needs and preferences, as well as to provide them with personalized guidance throughout the job
                     search process.
                     Q. What makes your job rewarding, fun, or challenging?

Susan: The part of my job that is the most rewarding is seeing a successful candidate grow in their new role.
As a recruiter, I strive to ensure that not only is the candidate a fit for the role, but that MIL is also fit for the
                     candidate.
Kamryn: The best part is the gratitude and satisfaction of your candidate being hired as well as the appreciation
                     from the candidate.
