New STEM Wing at St. Mary’s Ryken
MIL CEO Maurice “Butch” Long Jr. is a proud graduate of the “Class of ‘66” and lifelong
supporter of St. Mary’s Ryken High School in Leonardtown, MD. Over the years, Butch and
his company, MIL, have contributed generously of both time and resources to make the local
community school rigorous academic institution and safe haven for students of faith in the
Southern Maryland area. Most recently, Butch and the Long family donated the funds needed
to create a creative space for STEM students to explore the world of science and technology.
Christened the “MIL Family STEM and Innovation Wing,” the new teaching space currently
houses a wind tunnel, virtual reality, 3-D printers, drone lab, robotics build area, as well as
space for STEM classes to take place.
To learn more about the dedication of the new STEM facility, read the feature in the SMR

On a mission to serve
The Encontrandome con Cristo Guatemala Mission
provides clean drinking water, solar powered electricity, and
educational opportunities to remote and impoverished areas
of Guatemala. According to the Mission’s website, “Over
the last 10 years La Mision Encontrándome con Cristo has
helped over 260 families, built a community center, outfitted
six churches with solar panels and musical instruments,
financially supported the building of a convent, made
necessary repairs and donations to a home for abandoned and
abused girls, and awarded 33 scholarships to students seeking
to further their education.” MIL’s President and CEO is heavily
involved in supporting the goals of the Mission and we invite
you to learn more about the Mission and its efforts to support
our less fortunate brothers and sisters: The Encontrandome
con Cristo Guatemala Mission.
