BROTHERS OF JAMES FOY?
THE FOY BOYS; JOHN, THOMAS JR, JACOB, &
FREDERICK, SR
here are an abundance of public records available in Craven County,
North Carolina from the 1700's to indicate that a THOMAS and
TREBECCA FOY lived in the area and probably had at least five sons.
While, to date, there are no specific records verifying the relationships, it is very
likely that those five sons were JOHN, THOMAS JR, JACOB, FREDERICK
and JAMES FOY for there is also an abundance of records referencing various
activities by individuals with those names.
In tracing the Cisco Clan line of the FOYs the most important of those five boys
to us is JAMES FOY for it is through the descendants of JAMES we find our
own ancestors. There will be, therefore, a separate chapter in this book
dedicated to JAMES but now, however, we want to talk a little about the other
sons of THOMAS FOY, i.e., JOHN FOY, THOMAS FOY JR, JACOB FOY,
and FREDERICK FOY, SR.

Available records seem to indicate JOHN was born January 18, 1726 in St

theory, he moved to Craven County, North Carolina with his parents, THOMAS
and REBECCA, in the mid 1700s.
The name JOHN FOY was noted as a witness along with JOHN FONVILLE to
the document transferring land on the Trent River from LEMUEL HATCH to
THOMAS FOY, on February 1, 1760. It could be the witness, JOHN FOY, was
actually the son of THOMAS.
According to Craven County Court minutes JOHN FOY took over the operation
of the FOY INN on the Trent River following his father’s death. Those minutes
