                                                             TWO CHALCEDONY SNUFF BOTTLES
                                                             1750-1860
                                                             The first of carnelian, carved in a flattened circular shape with a tubular
                                                             neck and a flat foot, each face decorated with a raised conforming
                                                             panel enclosing the decoration of a Han dynasty eave-end tile; the
                                                             second of agate, carved in a rounded square shape with tubular neck
                                                             and oval foot ring, the caramel inclusion on one face used to highlight
                                                             the relief carving of persimmons, chime, fan and bat.

                                                             AN AMBER SNUFF BOTTLE
                                                             1750-1850
                                                             Well-hollowed, of biconvex lens section, with lion mask and mock ring
                                                             handles carved on the broad shoulders, tapering gently towards the
                                                             splayed foot ring, each face richly carved, one with poet Meng Haoran
                                                             on the back of a mule searching for the perfect plum blossom in
                                                             winter, the other side with an ox herd on the back of his ox, the deep
                                                             orange material finely crizzled on the interior.
