A RED OVERLAY TRANSLUCENT GLASS ‘KUILONG’ SNUFF
BOTTLE
1750-1820
Of flattened pear shape rising to a slightly tapered neck and flat lip, the
cranberry-red overlay on each face carved to form a pair of confronting
foliate kuilong bound together by rings around their tails and forelegs,
the sides carved with lion mask and mock ring handles above
C-scrolls and polygons, all supported on a tall foot ring.

Of flattened egg shape, the purple layer carved on each side to form
a blossoming prunus tree with spreading branches, growing from the
foot, carved as an open blossom.

cranberry-red layer carved as the ribbon-tied ‘Eight Auspicious
Objects’, all supported on the oval foot ring.
