A GILT-BRONZE SEATED FIGURE OF SHAKYAMUNI
17TH-18TH CENTURY
清十七/十八世紀 鎏金銅釋迦牟尼佛坐像
Shakyamuni is shown with downcast eyes and serene expression seated in
dhyanasana upon a lotus base with his right hand in bhumisparsamudra and
his left held on his lap supporting an alms bowl and cover. He is dressed in long
fowing robes incised to the hems with foral designs. The base is sealed with
a double vajra.

QIANLONG PERIOD, INCISED WITH CYCLICAL GENGYIN DATE,
CORRESPONDING TO 1770, AND OF THE PERIOD
清乾隆 1770年 鎏金銅無量壽佛坐像
The fgure is seated in dhyanasana on a rectangular openwork plinth, with
hands in dhyanamudra and dressed in robes draped over the left shoulder and
wearing a jewelled necklace. The face is modelled with a pensive expression
beneath hair pulled up into an elaborate coifure and fronted by a fve-leafed
tiara. The fgure is surrounded by a faming mandorla.
