Of flattened ovoid form, surmounted by a short
tubular neck with a wide flat lip, all supported on
a concave oval foot, the light green stone with
splashes apple-green and icy-white inclusions.

Wu Yuchuan, likely Imperial Palace Workshops,
1760-1799
Of flattened globular form, with a flat oval foot and
a flat lip, one face with a cricket among flowers,
reversed with a poem in kaishu followed by two
iron red painted seals reading Shan’gao and Wu
Yuchuan.

This bottle is one of a group of bottles attributed to
Wu Yuchuan and discussed in Hugh Moss, Victor
Graham and Ka Bo Tsang, The Art of the Chinese
Snuff Bottle: The J & J Collection, Vol. 2, New York,
1993, no. 196, and in Moss, Graham, Tsang, in A
Treasury of Chinese Snuff Bottles, the Mary and
George Bloch Collection, Volume 6, Part I, Hong
Kong, 2008, pp. 195-198, where these bottles are
discussed with the ‘Hu Xuan’ group and the Guyue
Xuan group as a whole.
