TWO SANCAI GLAZED FIGURES
Tang dynasty
The first a court lady with hands hidden by long
narrow sleeves and clasped over a long shawl, the
long flaring skirt tied at the waist, the delicate facial
features beneath hair swept into two side buns, the
garments accented with green, amber and ivory;
the second a male groom dressed in a green-glazed
long coat, and wearing a futou hat, cradling a duck.

TWO SANCAI GLAZED VESSELS
Tang/Liao dynasty
The Tang dynasty cup molded in the form of a
mythical beast head with a serpent issuing from its
mouth and curving back to bite the rim, forming the
handle; the Liao dynasty washer realistically made
in the form of a marine gastropod shell of ovate-
conic shape with a section removed to present a
flat surface, the exterior glazed amber, the interior
green.
