TWO BLACK-GLAZED BOTTLE VASES
Northern Song/Jin dynasty
The first of squat ovoid form, the broad shoulder rising to a short neck
encircled with a flange below the lipped rim, the body freely painted
with strokes of russet against a glossy black glaze, stopping above
the unglazed foot; the second of meiping form with broad rounded
shoulder, tapering towards the foot, surmounted by a tapering neck
modeled with a groove around the base, covered with a lustrous
translucent black glaze, the foot unglazed.
