A RARE SANCAI-GLAZED AMPHORA
Tang dynasty
Potted with an ovoid body tapering towards the
base, supported on a flat foot, surmounted by a
slender waisted neck encircled by raised fillets,
flanked by a pair of curved double-strap handles
applied with bosses and terminating in dragon
heads biting the flaring galleried-rim, splashed with
green and amber over wax-resist spots, the glaze
ending in an irregular line over the incised lines
encircling the shoulder revealing the pinkish buff
body.

A SANCAI GLAZED TRIPOD JAR
Tang dynasty
Potted with a compressed globular body,
surmounted by a short neck with an everted rim,
splashed with green and amber glaze running
over wax-resist spots, stopping in an irregular line
at the base to expose the pinkish buff body, the
interior coated with an amber-tinged clear glaze, all
supported on three lion paw-form feet.
