A CARVED WOOD FIGURE OF A BODHISATTVA
SONG-YUAN DYNASTY (960-1368)

The deity is carved standing on a cloud base, her hair upswept
into a topknot and worn beneath a crown. Her face is carved with
downcast eyes and her robes are worn loosely draped about her
shoulders and are open at her chest to reveal a necklace. A long
celestial scarf is draped over her arms. Traces of red pigment
remain.

                                                                  SEATED GUANYIN
                                                                  YUAN DYNASTY (1260-1368)

                                                                  The Buddhist deity is carved seated in dhyanasana on a lotus base,
                                                                  she has a full face and downcast eyes and her hair is upswept in
                                                                  a top knot beneath a crown, she wears a necklace over loosely
                                                                  draped robes that fall in folds over the edge of the lotus base. There
                                                                  are traces of red, green, black and blue pigment.
